Every command ran for real on 26 September 2026 (Odoo 20.0 Community, build 20.0-20260926). The first build is sped up.

A real run on a clean Docker host: Odoo 20 started the Odoo 19 way leaves the port dead because it listens on 127.0.0.1; the Dockerfile from Odoo’s 20.0 package with --http-interface=0.0.0.0, compose.yaml with PostgreSQL 17, the first build, the port answering, and creating the database.

  1. Odoo 20 in Docker: The port is dead. The log says why. Commands: docker run -d --name first-try -p 8069:8069 odoo20-odoo odoo ; curl -sS -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n" http://localhost:8069/web/login ; docker logs first-try 2>&1 | grep "HTTP service".
  2. Install Odoo 20 with Docker. Every command, run for real.
  3. Before you start · What you need. Docker with Compose: Linux, macOS, Windows. An official odoo:20 image: not on Docker Hub yet. So we build one from Odoo's 20.0 package: one Dockerfile.
  4. The one line that matters: Listen on all interfaces, inside the container. Commands: mkdir odoo20 && cd odoo20 ; cat > Dockerfile <<'EOF'.
  5. compose.yaml: PostgreSQL 17, a health check, two volumes. Commands: cat > compose.yaml <<'EOF'.
  6. The first build: About seven minutes, once. Commands: docker compose build.
  7. This time: 0.0.0.0, and the port answers. Commands: docker compose up -d --build ; docker compose logs odoo | grep "HTTP service" ; curl -sS -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}\n" http://localhost:8069/web/login.
  8. Note the master password: Then name it and create it. Odoo 20.0 Community: Running.
  9. On a real server · Two more things. Keep the 127.0.0.1 default: put nginx with HTTPS in front. Or tunnel in: ssh -L 8069:localhost:8069. When odoo:20.0 lands on Docker Hub: swap build: . for image: odoo:20.0.
